Steve Skinner
Owner · Mike's son
Grew up on the trucks and learned the trade from his father. Steve runs operations and is still out on recoveries himself — heavy-duty, accident scenes, the calls that need the most experience.
Able Wrecker Service started in 1999 with Mike Skinner and a single tow truck on the west side of Lima. Today his family runs a full fleet — flatbeds, wreckers, a heavy-duty rig, and a service van — with the same standard he set: affordable, dependable, reliable, and there when you need us.
November 10, 1951 – April 28, 2010
His lifelong goal was to be of service to his fellow man — to be the best that he could be, and to offer an excellent service.
Able Towing was established in 1999 by Michael E. Skinner Sr. His lifelong goal was to be of service to his fellow man. He had a goal to be the best that he could be and to offer an excellent service, and he prided himself on being affordable, dependable and reliable — always there when he was needed.
The company started with one truck and has grown into the fleet of service trucks we run today. Mike passed on his love for the service industry to his son Steve, who, together with his mother, Cheryl, continues to provide the same excellent standard of service that Mike did.
His spirit remains strong in our day-to-day operation. We're here to provide you with friendly, convenient and efficient service when you need us — at 2 p.m. on a Tuesday or 2 a.m. in a snowstorm.
A few of the miles between one truck and today.
Mike Skinner starts the company in Lima, Ohio with a single tow truck and a promise to answer the phone whenever it rang.
Mike is inducted in recognition of a career spent in service to stranded motorists.
Steve and Cheryl take the wheel, keeping the same drivers, the same standard, and the same phone number.
National recognition from the towing industry for professionalism and service.
Presented by the Lima–Allen County Safe Community Coalition for our work keeping local roads clear and safe.

Two flatbeds, two wreckers, a heavy-duty wrecker, and a roadside service van — dispatched 24 hours a day from the same yard on West State Road.
Still a Skinner family business — not a franchise, not a call center, not a dispatch app.

Cheryl has been part of Able Towing since the one-truck days and keeps the office, the accounts, and the standard Mike set — the voice many long-time customers know by name.
Mike's standard, translated into what you can actually expect from us.
You hear the price on the phone before a truck rolls, and it's the price you pay. No surprise mileage, no "scene fees" invented on arrival. Visa, Mastercard, or cash — your choice.
Open 24 hours, 365 days, with a dispatcher in Lima — not a call center. Christmas morning, July 4th, and the first ice storm of the year all get answered the same way.
Our own trucks, our own licensed and insured drivers, and the right rig for the job the first time — flatbed for your AWD, heavy-duty for your semi. That's how you earn a Trust Award.
Given by the towing industry and by the community we serve.
Membership means ongoing training, current safety practices, and accountability to the standards of the towing profession — not just a sticker on the truck.
The same yard on West State Road, a bigger fleet, and a wider map.
Lima, Allen County, and 150 miles in every direction. Cars to semis, day or night.
